From Farmhouse Drab to Farmhouse Fab in under $100

There's a widely held belief out there that in order to update or makeover a room, you need to spend a lot of money.. I'm here to tell you- THAT IS A LIE!

I'm going to share with you some tips and tricks to make a major impact in a room, without making a major impact in your wallet.

Here is the BEFORE picture. I didn't realize it until I replaced them, but those frosted vanity lights were making everything in the bathroom look yellow.

I framed this mirror right after we moved

in, and did little else with this space. In my opinion, framing your bathroom mirror is the SINGLE most impactful and easiest thing to do. It cost me prob $20 to frame this mirror, that's not included in this blog, but if you need help let me know. :)

Here is the AFTER picture! I upgraded the light fixture, removed and replaced the shelving, added beadboard wainscoting, and painted the cabinets. This cost me less than $100. The new decor pictured here is all from what I call "shopping my house" meaning I just grabbed it from other parts of my house and rearranged. FREE.

Okay, besides framing the mirror, upgrading an existing light fixture is a GREAT way to make a big impact for little effort and little money! All I did here was replace the old bulbs with daylight white edison bulbs and add farmhouse style cages. So easy!

Okay, we are about $40 in now. Next, I ordered some gray chalk paint, and used about $10 of it. I have tons of paint leftover for other projects, so I thought it was only fair to add just $10 to my working total. Painting the cabinets with chalk paint is super easy. The only prep you need to do is clean them! I'm sure I'll make another blog all about chalk painting, so if you're interested in that-stay tuned!

Okay, here comes the wainscoting! I knew I wanted beadboard, but with my $100 budget, I didn't think it was in the cards, until I discovered this faux beadboad textured wallpaper! It is paintable and everything! For $20 I decided to give it a go! Hey, if it doesn't work out, I can always add real beadboard later. I thought for 20 bucks, it was worth a shot. Here goes nothing!

With the money I had leftover I also removed and replaced the shelves! I painted the wood to match the cabinets, and VOILA! Oh, I got new towels too. :)

What do you guys think? $100 well spent?
